Our mate Jack is currently on the most epic of all adventures: riding around Australia, unsupported and (mostly) all alone on his mountain bike. And he’s only 18 years old.
What motivated Jack to take up such a massive challenge? Back in 2014 Jack’s mate Saverio lost his dad to Motor Neurone Disease (MND) after battling the illness for three years. MND (known as ALS in the US) is a group of diseases in which the nerve cells controlling the muscles that enable us to move, speak, breathe and swallow undergo degeneration and die. There is currently no cure for MND.
Jack’s already more than halfway through his journey and this week crossed the Northern Territory border from WA, having ridden the entire length of the Gibb River Road, battling through more red dust than most people would see in a lifetime and crossing crocodile infested waters on his bike.
The TripFit team is hugely proud of Jack’s efforts and will continue to track Jack as he makes his way down the east coast and back to Melbourne.
Jack’s raised more than $40,000 so far which is an amazing effort. If you’d like to contribute you can donate via this link or you can follow Jack on his facebook page
