We love the Mornington Peninsula. It’s probably our favourite peninsula. And we’re peninsula aficionados, so that’s quite an accolade.

To celebrate our love for this narrow strip of land surrounded by not one, not two but THREE bodies of water, we thought we’d put together a list of reasons why the MP is Melbourne’s best day trip. Besides, the internet was just screaming out for another list…

#1 The scenery: the views from Arthur’s seat on a clear day are world class – you can see the stunning beaches and crystal clear water from Dromana to Portsea, the city skyline, the You Yangs, the Otways and the Shipwreck Coast.

#2 The hiking: this region has some fantastic coastal hiking with beautiful, scenic routes in areas including Cape Schanck and Point Nepean.

#3 The wildlife: if you’re lucky you’ll see kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, blue-tongue lizards, and maybe even a koala.  We’ve found one particular spot where up to 100 kangaroos gather to feed every day…

#4 The mountain biking: Red Hill has some of the best mountain biking in Australia with fast, flowing downhill trails and spectacular sea views.

#5 The wine: some of the best cool climate wines in Australia come out of the Mornington Peninsula, which is home to over 100 wineries. If you’re a fan of pinot noir, sav blanc or chardonnay, this is the region for you.

#6 The food: from gourmet cuisine to fish and chips, this region is on point when it comes to tucker. Luckily our adventures give you an opportunity to work off an afternoon of eating.

#7 The beaches and watersports: ever tried stand-up-paddling? When was the last time you went kayaking? On the MP you can do both, and while you’re at it keep your eyes peeled for dolphins – we see them a couple of times a week at our favourite beach.

You can experience all of the above on one of our action-packed Mornington Peninsula adventures. Whether you’re a local or a tourist the Mornington Peninsula has something for you, so don’t miss out!
